Our Latest Publication
We aim to give an insight into our planning process through our latest publication "Using Characters and Themes to Inspire Early Learning". It enables practitioners to usee this approach within their own setting. We have created five practical scenarios which revolve around a problem. The children will lead the learning to solve each problem for the child-friendly characters. Whilst doing this they will cover a wealth of EYFS outcomes in a fun and imaginative way.
We always begin by asking the children about their interests. From this we select a theme and plan a 'spark' to ignite the project. In our publication we have demonstrated this by creating some popular characters inspired by the children we have worked with over the years.
The book contains a variety of resources to help you carry out the projects. There are photocopiable resources, planning ideas and e-resources available for practitioners to use.

The projects cover all aspects of the EYFS curriculum in a fun and imaginative way. They particularly encourage Oracy, critical thinking, creativity, team work and empathy. Manyof the Characteristics of Effective Learning recommended by the EYFS. We have carefully chosen scenarios to appeal to both genders. In our experience they motivate the boys to fully engage in learning and give writing a real meaning and purpose.
